Mountainside

Driving through the mountains of Morocco was an incredible experience. It was so incredibly different from the European cities I've visited in my time abroad. It wasn't just mountainous terrain we were passing through but a place where people lived. Some bits of the mountainside were littered with trash, which wild cats and dogs liked to explore, while other parts had the occasional small house with their donkeys outside. Off in the distance, you could see the horizon dotted with wind turbines. One stretch had probably 50 odd turbines. It was the most I had ever seen; back home, there are only 2 or 3 wind turbines on the island. It was also inspiring; if a third world country can be a leader in sustainable energy, America can most certainly amp up its game. Here are some of the views I saw along the way.

Another favorite of mine from this bus ride was the rest stop we made on our 3 hour journey to Chefchaouen at this beautiful lagoon. The lagoon is hidden behind a little shop that makes great Moroccan mint tea. The shop even boasts a cute, little terrace that overlooks the lagoon. Outside, the view is even better. Look for the cafe "Restaurant Cafe Sed Nekhla" to find this little gem - there's a sign right at the entrance by the side of the road!
